GAME ON!

It's hard to believe SYG2011 (State Youth Games) has been and gone! Like last year, Life-Gate Inc. took a team of 7 'at risk' youth to the event in order to help each young person develop self-worth and a sense of achievement, build deeper relationships and be exposed to the Gospel (...SYG is an evangelistic event organised each year by the missions arm of the Churches of Christ).

It was three FULL days of sports, camping, outreach and more - and thanks to the awesome weather and all the volunteers and help we had this year - individuals from several churches (including SBC and New Peninsula) - the camp was a massive success for our young people!

Two of our youth who have always been antagonistic to the Gospel were open and receptive and actively participating in EVERY aspect of the camp (including the worship times, lol). I also had had the opportunity to hear one of our young men confess his love for Jesus and his desire that Jesus be Lord of his life (praise God!!!) - and better still, in the next breath, he was sharing with one of our girls about all Jesus had done for her on the Cross!!! Our God is mighty to save! (Zeph 3:17)
This year I was so flat-out with other Life-Gate responsibilities I didn't have as much time to put into SYG preparation - if it wasn't for my Canadian friend Roxanne who carried the load and easily did the majority of the work, we would never have gotten there, let alone had as successful and stress-free a weekend! I'm so thankful to God for her diligence and gifts in organisation.

I thank God for each and every person He sent: Roxanne, Michael Riddell from SBC who stepped in last minute as a leader, Simon Fielding and Paul Finnin (from my outreach team), Colin & Liz Hornby who did a lot of work as our Cooks (...and clothes washers, after we came back from footy absolutely FILTHY!) and all the women from New Peninsula Baptist who baked home-made muffins and slices for our morning and afternoon teas and desserts.

PRAISE GOD for such an swesome weekend and for the seeds sown!.Love Lau
