All His Promises...
Reading F.F. Bosworth's "Christ The Healer" tonight, I came across a couple of great quotes and I just had to share them! :-) He writes,
"It is impossible to boldly claim, by faith, a blessing that we are not sure God offers. The power of God can be claimed only where the will of God is known."
And later, "Appropriating faith is not believing that God can but that God will."
...Hence the writer of Hebrews teaches that "faith is the substance of things hoped for" and Jesus Himself promises that "all things whatsoever you desire...be believing [presently, continuously] that you received them [past tense] and they SHALL be granted [future tense]"! (Mark 11:23,24) ..."Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has great recompense of reward..." (Heb 10:35)
Bosworth's words are so true, and if God's power cannot be claimed where His will is not known, then we must make it our greatest endeavour, if we are to see His transforming power at work in and through us, to KNOW His will - to study and to know all He has promised! For "as many as are the promises of God, they are 'yes' and 'amen' in Christ Jesus"! (2 Cor 1)
